California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) Applauds Appointment of Charles M. Stringer to Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 2, 2011) – The California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) – the non-partisan political action arm of the environmental movement in California – today applauded Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s appointment of Charles M. Stringer to the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board.

“The Governor appointed an environmental champion who brings broad experience and wise judgment to this public service position. Los Angeles citizens and their environment will benefit from the service of Charlie Stringer,” said Warner Chabot, Chief Executive Officer of CLCV.

Stringer is Principal and General Counsel with the Renewable Resources Group, where he manages various clean energy and large-scale water conservation, aquifer storage, and transfer projects. In 2007 and again in 2009, Karen Bass, then-Speaker of the California Assembly, appointed Mr. Stringer to chair her Environmental Commission. Mr. Stringer was also appointed in 2009 to serve on the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Advisory Committee, a statutory body charged by the state legislature to manage over 60,000 acres of public land in the Santa Monica Mountains. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the California League of Conservation Voters.

Stringer has vast federal, state, local and tribal public sector experience with complex environmental policies and rules. He has helped design and set new policies to protect water and other vital natural resources throughout the west and the nation. He brings a deep understanding of the importance of protecting water resources and knows first-hand that a strong economy that supports sustainable, living wage jobs is not only consistent with the protection of water and other natural resources, but depends on it.

“We’re proud that someone of Charlie’s experience and capabilities has been appointed to this important Board,” said Tom Adams, President of CLCV’s Board of Directors.
